Preteen Dies in ‘Dare’

Police in Bolingbrook, Illinois say an 11-year-old girl there died after she jumped off a bridge on a dare. Officials say Jordan Oliver drowned in the retention pond behind Pioneer Elementary School. The fifth-grader’s classmates say she had told them she could not swim before she jumped off the bridge.
Police say Oliver and a group of six other children were bridge jumping. They say Oliver was able to swim to shore after her first jump, but drowned in the 12-foot-deep water after her second jump.
